Film Evaluation: Get an Honest Read on Your Tape

Before you blast film out, know what it really says to coaches.

D1Expectation Film Evaluation thumbnail

If you’re a parent or athlete sitting on HUDL links, long highlights, or full games and you’re not sure what they really say, a D1Expectation Film Evaluation gives you an honest, clear read before you start sending tape out to coaches.

I break down what pops, what isn’t helping, what’s missing, and what level your athlete currently looks like on film — so you can move smarter with the tape you already have.

Start here if you want a real evaluation before you invest more time, money, and emotion into the recruiting process.

Recruiting Game Plan Session: Build a 6–12 Month Plan

For athletes and parents who don’t want to guess their way through recruiting and NIL.

D1Expectation Recruiting Game Plan thumbnail

This session is for athletes and parents who are ready to stop guessing. In about 50–60 minutes, we look at where you are now (film, grades, mindset), where you’re trying to go, and what needs to happen over the next 6–12 months.

Before the call, your athlete completes a short AI-backed assessment so we can see strengths, blind spots, and how they respond under pressure. On the call, we turn that into a real game plan you can follow.

Use this guide to understand exactly what’s inside the Recruiting Game Plan Session and how it fits with film evaluations, highlight cuts, and everything else you’re building for your athlete.

D1Expectation Highlight Cuts: Turn Long HUDL Film into 1 Minute Coaches Actually Watch

How I take 5–13 minute highlights and condense them into a clean, coach-friendly 1:00–1:15 cut of your best football.

D1Expectation Highlight Cuts thumbnail – turning a 13-minute HUDL highlight into a 1-minute coach-ready cut

Most athletes send coaches long HUDL links — 8, 10, even 13 minutes of plays. Coaches don’t have that kind of time.

This Playbook breakdown explains exactly how I watch your existing highlight or game film, pull out your strongest reps, and build a tight 1:00–1:15 cut that actually fits into a coach’s day.

If you’re a parent, coach, or player who wants a fair shot at being evaluated at the right level — D1, D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO — start with this PDF, then hit Book Coaching or email coach@d1expectation.com to talk next steps.

💭 The Message

I've been laid off plenty of times, and every time it hit the same. You give years to a company, hit goals, help people build their dreams — and then one day, it's gone. What I learned is this: nobody can fire you from your purpose.

For years I worked in e-commerce sales, helping businesses scale. I was proud of that. But one day I realized I was helping everyone else build their brand, and I hadn't built my own. Getting let go forced me to ask, “What if the same energy I gave to other people's growth, I gave to my own purpose?”

That's when I started building D1Expectation — a standard we set for ourselves because the expectation never stops. It began with football training, then I saw it wasn't just the workouts — it was the mindset. That led to life coaching for athletes figuring out who they are when the game ends. Then it grew into apparel, partnerships, and a movement: bringing that D1 mindset into business, relationships, and purpose.

Life is going to test you. I was tested. I found out I was built from pain and fueled by purpose. If you're in a rebuild season, maybe that's you too. You didn't just get laid off — you can get lifted up.

💭 The Message

Every athlete hits that point where the game slows down — but the ones who keep that mindset? They never stop.

I walked on at LSU, went JUCO, and fought my way to a D1 scholarship. That grind taught me something: The game ends, but the mindset doesn’t.

That’s what D1Expectation was built on — a reminder that the expectation never stops, even when the lights go out.
